Unlike the popular theories that state that the space shuttle could miraculously appear if blown up enough times, an organic garden is usually not the result of an accident. People that have a successful garden have created one based upon their consistent upkeep, planning, and a desire to make their garden grow. Regardless of the therapeutic value the gardening has, relaxation has little to do with the steps that it takes to ensure the success of your gardening endeavor. Here are a few organic gardening tips on how to make sure that your organic garden goals are reached by looking at planning, soil preparation, fertilizers, irrigation, and insect and disease control.
Tip #1 – a plan is always needed. Not something that is thought of and reconsidered over time intermittently, but a specified plan of action that leads to a specified end result. When you decide to grow your garden, and you choose to do it in an organic matter, you will need to take a few things into consideration such as location, the environment that the plants will grow it, the time that it will take in order for you to properly take care of your garden, how much effort will be involved and are there any resources that you may or may not be able to acquire in order to reach your final goals.
Once you have a clear written outline of what it is you need to do and what you need to acquire to reach your garden goals, it is time to start the plan into action. Action is everything once the goals are defined. If you set your goals but neglect factors such as good seed, compost, or even a source of good water for your plants, you will fail in your attempt because any compromise will lead to an overall failure.

We know that spinach makes us strong. Anybody who is remotely familiar with the Popeye cartoons can tell you that spinach makes your muscles grow. Of course, most of us do not embrace spinach until we are older. For many of us this is because we were exposed only to the slimy canned spinach when we were kids. Maybe if we had been exposed to fresh spinach from the garden, we would have learned to love it earlier on. This article will explain how to grow spinach in your own garden. Once you know how to grow spinach you can have it whenever you want!
The first step in learning how to grow spinach, you will need to assemble the following materials: compost makers, pruners, fertilizer, fish emulsions, garden spades and trowels, floating row covers, mulch, shovels, limes, plants and spinach seeds.
The best place to learn how to grow spinach is a place that, in the cooler weather gets the full sun and in warmer weather is partially shaded. The soil itself should be fertile, retain moisture and it needs to be light. The pH balance should range from six to seven. Before planting, you will want to dig well cured manure into the soil to make sure that the soil’s conditions are ready to sustain the spinach growth.

I enjoy both gardening and cooking. In order to do both I started a vegetable garden in my backyard. Greenbeans are my favorite vegetable to grow in my home garden. It’s really fun to be able to grow something from seed and then be able to use them in a variety of ways.
In order to grow any vegetable successfully you have to start with good soil. It’s the first step in growing anything. If you don’t have the right type of soil the green beans won’t thrive. The soil just be able to drain easily. If the soil doesn’t drain the green bean plants may develop root rot. The soil should be moderately rich. The green beans will need a good 8 to 10 inches of soil. The soil should be fertilized using a 10-20-10 fertilizer. Work the fertilizer into the top 3-4 inches of soil for best results.
What type of green beans should you grow? Your answer should depend on how many green beans you wish to harvest and how much area you have to grow them. You’ll find green beans divided into two categories, bush beans and pole beans. Bush beans, as the name implies, grown on a low growing bush. Pole beans will need to be staked in the garden. You will probably need to help the pole beans start their climb, but once started they will climb beautifully on their own.
When you’re trying to determine what variety of green bean to grow in your garden you’ll also have a choice of colors. Yes, that’s right green beans don’t just come in green! One very popular purple green bean is a pole bean called Violet podded. You can grow a yellow green bean called Rocquencourt. Whatever color you decided to grow you’ll find the flavor is the same as a standard green bean.

Radishes are easy, uncomplicated and quick to grow, producing a crop in only 3-4 weeks. Even their young leaves are edible! They are delicious in salads, adding a fresh hot flavour and a decorative bright pink colour. There are many different varieties you can grow, including summer and winter varieties, Chinese or Mooli radish which tend to have longer roots, and podding radish which are grown not for the root but the seed pods and have a similar flavour to traditional radish. Pink Beauty is a small round radish which matures very quickly and Scarlet Globe is a good variety to grow outdoors. Growing them from seed couldn’t be simpler – here is a short guide to how to do it.
How to do it
Radishes can be grown outdoors in rows or indoors on window sills or pots. They tend to prefer to be grown in dappled shade, as too much direct sunlight can encourage the plants to bolt. First, prepare the bed on a dry day by raking the soil to remove any large clumps of soil, stones and any weeds. Once the soil is raked to a fine tilth, create a drill using the edge of a trowel. To make sure you sow in a straight line, use a length of string attached to a cane at each end of the row. Sow the seeds individually, spacing them according to the packet. Lightly cover the seeds with soil and water well. Make sure you keep the soil moist if the weather is dry. The seeds should take around ten days to germinate. However hard you try to space out the seeds when sowing, you will find that you need to thin them out. Do this when the seeds are just big enough to handle, leaving around 3cm between each seedling. Look after your seedlings by regularly hoeing to remove any weeds which will compete with them for water and nutrients.
